In December 2025, the Public Health Association (PHANZ) published a policy statement on Equally Well. The purpose of the policy position statement was to highlight the inequities that people who experience mental health and addiction issues face in relation to physical health.

In March 2026, PHANZ hosted a policy webinar on Equally Well – hosted by Luke Garland (PHANZ Senior Policy Advisor) and featuring Dr Helen Lockett (Chief Science Advisor – Te Kaiārahi Pūtaiao for the Wise Group, Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Otago Wellington) and Mau Te Rangimarie Clark (Research Fellow in the Department of Psychological Medicine at the University of Otago – Christchurch). The policy webinar supports the policy position statement, affirming that addressing the physical health inequities faced by people with mental health and addiction issues is a public health priority.
